I found out that larger birds like mine prefer their perch to be much lower. Not only that, they often prefer a board with rounded edges as opposed to a circular object.
I have not modified the perch at this stage, so it remains unused. But I plan to lower it to around 25 cm and change it over to a board. Hopefully that will make them happy. But at least there is one less feral Jacaranda growing about. ;)Spotshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08070064356059873617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5768904846384260705.post-37232122413730461842009-10-12T20:27:02.100+10:002009-10-12T20:27:02.100+10:00Looks great!

I have been looking at how to build a chook house and read somewhere that perches should be 50cm high, but then I read somewhere else that for big birds they should be only 25cm high. Maybe they're too high for them to feel comfortable flying onto/off?
Also read they should be at least 45cm from a side wall - it looks maybe a bit close to the wall in the pic?zoidbergnoreply@blogger.com
